Closed For Christmas (And Something For You)

Today is Christmas day. And to celebrate, The Recording Revolution will be “closed” for a week as I take some much needed time off to rest and relax with my family. I hope you can do the same.

But I have something for you, a little free music. If you didn’t already download this last year (or the year before) please feel free to download a little Christmas EP we recorded a couple of years ago. What’s The Big Deal With Christmas?

Christmas is a big deal. Not because we’re all “boosting the economy” with our shopping and gift giving (although that is fun), but because it represents hope. Hope for a better world, hope for peace.

We all look to our political leaders to “make things right” and bring justice, equality, and peace to our world. But no matter how amazing those leaders are, they will fail. Just like I would fail in their place.

Christmas points to the ultimate leader, Jesus. The one who came 2,000 years ago and who will come again to finally bring hope, joy, peace, and restoration to all things.

The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shone. For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end. (Isaiah 9:2,6-7, ESV)

I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. (Jesus speaking; John 10:9-10, ESV)
