Why You Should Mix With As Few Plugins As Possible

When it comes to mixing your music, I’m a firm believer that less is more.

This is definitely true when it comes to how many plugins you use in a mix. The tendency in the modern studio is to drop in more and more plugins, all the while assuming that each plugin is actually enhancing the music.

Most of the time, heavy plugin use is simply an overcompensation for insecurity as a mixer. Trust me, I’ve been there.

I personally believe, however, that you and I should strive to use as FEW PLUGINS as is possible in order to craft a great mix. And there are two reasons for this: one is technical, and the other is psychological.

In today’s video I try and make the case that the best thing you could do for you music is to use as few plugins as possible when mixing.
