Take Your Mixes To The Next Level

Today is a huge day as I’m pumped to announce the launch of Dueling Mixes, a brand new mix training site dedicated to taking you to the next level. I’ve partnered up with my good friend (and fellow audio guru) Joe Gilder to create this incredible new service that was designed from the ground up with the goal of helping you drastically speed up the time it takes to get better at mixing.

Monthly Mix Training

As a member of Dueling Mixes you’ll be getting your hands dirty with monthly mix training. Each month we’ll load up a brand new song to mix, from a wide range of artists. Joe and I will have both already mixed the song on our own, in our own studios, and you get to listen to each of our mixes and see how we go in different directions with the song.

Then, of course, you will download the wave files yourself, import them into your DAW of choice, and get to mixing. Having an idea of what these tracks CAN sound like you’ll have a goal to shoot for (and hopefully surpass). We supply the artists and the tracks, you do the mixing.
 

The Inside Scoop

Along with our mixes of the song, Joe and I will post a new video tutorial showing you how we got our mixes. We show you our plugin settings, automation moves, and overall approach to the track. We explain what challenges we faced with the song and what solutions we came to. All on the exact same tracks that YOU will be mixing each month.

This is amazing because you get two new mixing tutorials each month showing you a candid look at how we are mixing, and on the same tracks that you have in front of you so you can go and replicate (or ignore completely) our mixing decisions. I can’t think of a better way to learn this craft! And if you have questions a long the way, you can submit them and we host a monthly webinar (recorded of course) where we answer questions about that month’s mix. Awesome!

Two Mixing Perspectives

And here’s the kicker, each month you are not just getting a new song to mix, or video tutorials on how to mix that song, or access to get your questions answered, but you’re getting all of this from two people’s perspectives. This is the big idea behind Dueling Mixes. We want you to “look over the shoulder” of two different guys mixing the same material and see what we do or don’t do.

I always learn when I watch other mixers. So imagine watching two guys each month, AND then being able to practice mixing it YOUR way on the same source material. It’s that incredible!
